Avon | Connecting Beauty Lovers

Aloha Sprinklerinos,

I’ve been using my trusty pals at Avon for donkeys years now. There’s something I’ve always loved about their personal approach to the business world, I even wrote about their amazing door-to-door service way back when in 2010 and still find myself getting super excited when my local representative drops my monthly brochure through the letterbox. You can’t ask for much more than being able to fill out a form and have everything you’ve ordered delivered directly to your door with a smiley face and a little catch up to boot.

You may already know, but Avon also offer an online service – if you need things a little more urgently you can shop your must haves on the web and have them delivered that way.

Now of course they offer a top-notch service but let’s not forget about what they actually sell! Avon have always been my go to affordable beauty brand, their books come jam-packed with makeup, beauty products, perfume, clothing AND home ware all at amazingly competitive prices.

There are some items I've been dying to get my mitts on including a selection of the Glimmerstick Diamonds Eyeliners, the Ideal Luminous Shimmer Block and True Colour 8 in 1 Eyeshadow Palette. Avon's eyeshadows always pack a punch with their pigmentation so I'm looking forward to creating some festive looks with the palette and the glimmersticks together!

I also spotted this UH-mazing snow leopard throw...

You can also keep yourself in the loop with all the other Avon fans using Avon Beauty Connects. It's an online community haven - where you can share your beauty tips, read blogs and watch tutorials from Avon's beauty experts! Click here to get yourself involved in the fun!

What do you think? Will there be any Avon products at the top of your Christmas list this year?

Beauty Review | Tarte Cosmetics

Aloha Sprinklerinos,

If there is one brand that has had heaps of hype this year it’s Tarte Cosmetics and I’m not going to lie when I say I was firmly perched on that bandwagon.

I’ve been itching to get my hands on some of their products and now they’ve launched a select amount in the UK it seemed the perfect time to share them with you lovely lot.
A beauty review on Tarte Cosmetics coming to the UK

Tarte were lovely enough to send me a nice little parcel, but the products I’m most excited to try (and that are available for us here in the UK, too) are…

Amazonian Clay 12-Hour Blush

It’s been one of their most talked about products and from simply opening the packaging I can see why. With highly pigmented shades, packaging to match the colour that’s inside (good thinking, guys!) and a beautifully sized compact mirror they’ve already got me sold.

A beauty review on Tarte Cosmetics coming to the UK

Lights, Camera, Lashes 4-in-1 Mascara
With a cheeky hint from the title, this mascara promises to provide four lash benefits – curling, lengthening, volumising and conditioning. It’s safe to say that it’s going to be the one to reach for on an evening out, when you want to achieve a dramatic, dark eye. It’s also Dermatologist proven to increase volume in the lashes, which is a bit swishy if you ask me.

Amazonian Clay Volumizing Brow & Hair Powder
Available in a variety of shades, halleluiah! Not only is this little beauty packing a punch with some gorgeous packaging it, like the mascara, gives volumised, fuller brows – perfect for those Cara Delevingne inspired looks.

A beauty review on Tarte Cosmetics coming to the UK

Lastly, the Amazonian Butter Lipstick
Containing ingredients such as vitamin A and emollient butters (like cocoa butter) they’re super hydrating, ultra moisturising lipsticks with bold, pigmented application. They have a trio pack available on QVC at the moment that includes Coral Blossom - a golden coral shade, Tulip - a soft rose shade and Creamy Rose.

I'm really excited to give this brand a whirl!

What do you think?

Do you have any Tarte items on your Christmas wishlist?

A Review || Urban Decay Naked2 Basics Palette

Aloha Sprinklerinos,

A month (and a bit) after it’s official release in the UK I feel now is good a time as any to dish the dirt on Urban Decay’s latest release.

A beauty review of the new Urban Decay Naked2 Basics Palette
There isn’t one beauty lover out there that doesn’t let out a yelp of excitement when Urban Decay bring something new to the table. It’s always a highly anticipated release and this variation to the Naked family is quite the change, let me tell you.

Housed with 5 matte shadows and 1 satin for highlighting – it steps away from the sheerness of the original Naked Basics and  introduces some cooler, taupe and grey toned matte shades.

I don't know about you, but matte shadows always scare me a little? It's no secret that I love a bit of glitter, and I typically find shimmer shades so much easier to work with on the eyes. That being said, there will always be an occasion where a matte eye is more appropriate than all the glitz!

A beauty review of the new Urban Decay Naked2 Basics Palette
A beauty review of the new Urban Decay Naked2 Basics Palette

And when that occasion arises? This is the palette for you.
For a matte finish these shadows don’t have that dry, chalky finish which is refreshing and the quality is super-duper high, exactly what you’d expect from Urban Decay. They blend b-e-a-uuutifully and combined to create a complete look they definitely achieve a more sophisticated finish, taking a neutral matte eye to a whole new level – wowee!
Not only are they throwing in 5 brand spanking new (full-size) shades to this palette, but the packaging is my absolute favourite. Being teeny-tiny it’s perfect to slot in your handbag and with almost a suede-like finish it feels heavenly to touch!

The shades you’ll find are:

Skimp (pale nude satin),
Stark (nude-pink matte),
Frisk (warm grey matte),
Cover (muted red-brown matte),
Primal (muted brown matte)
And Undone (deep, smoky brown matte).

My personal faves are Cover, which I love to use in the crease and Stark, that I like to use all over the lid as a base colour. There's minimal fall-out with these eye shadows and the neutral colours make it perfect for a natural look at work or school!
For £22 it doesn’t break the bank and it literally has everything you could want for the perfect basic, neutral look. I was apprehensive on this one, but actually? I ruddy love it!
It's currently sold out (boo!!), but keep your eyes peeled, I'm sure it'll be back soon enough.

What do you think? Are you going to give this palette a whirl?!

Zoeva Pink Elements Eye Set & Graphic Eyes Pencils

Aloha Sprinklerinos,

Happy Friday! I hope you're looking forward to the weekend, with lots of lovely things planned!

*sings*
Oh yes, wait a minute Mr. Postman! Waaaaaaait Mr Postman.
*composes self*

Ahem. It’s as if he knew, what with this rainy old weather England is experiencing that I needed a little pick me up. And so, my morning was brightened by a heavenly little parcel from Zoeva.
A beauty review on the Zoeva Pink Elements Complete Eye Set

322 Brow Line
A beauty review on the Zoeva Pink Elements Complete Eye Set and their graphic eyes pencils
Described by the brand as the brush collection to celebrate women - women who dare to run the world
Well, it's certainly got my vote, because who doesn't love a bit of girl power?
Their new range is all about empowering women to be confident, be bold, be daring.
And given all the pressure the media puts on us to be perfect? It's quite refreshing to see such a happy and positive approach from a beauty brand.
They are the perfect addition to my (ever growing) stash and have been released just in time for Christmas, too. All 12 brushes – plus the bag – retail at just under £57 which really, for so many staple brushes is pretty darn impressive.

To go alongside them Zoeva cheekily slipped in a selection of their Graphic Eyes – ultra smooth and waterproof eyeliners. I’m yet to test them out but with glittery, magnetic pigments, bold colours and the promise of staying put? I’m excited.
On swatching, the formula is incredibly creamy which means it’ll glide on like a dream and now it’s approaching the festive season I’ll be looking for any excuse to get my eyes all bright and snazzy!
A beauty review and swatches of Zoeva Graphic Eyes Pencils
L-R: New Jewels, Opulence, Glance, Regency, Cool Factor
You can pick them up for £5.50from Love Makeup, so they’re the perfect little stocking filler to go alongside the brush set.

What do you think? Has the sight of pink brushes and glittery pencils got you all flustered too?

Review & Swatches: Charlotte Tilbury Matte Revolution Lipsticks

Aloha Sprinklerinos,

There's no woman in the world that doesn't let out a squeal of excitement when Charlotte Tilbury releases something new in the makeup world. And I'm certainly no exception to the rule.

A blog review and swatches of the Charlotte Tilbury Matte Revolution Lipsticks

When I first laid eyes on this box of rose gold bullets it was a romance I knew I wouldn't forget any time soon.

*Swoons*
Just look at all the pretty!

Now it's one thing to have on-point packaging - (don't try and pretend, I know you're all magpies like me) But it's another to create a revolutionary product that gets people talking.

A blog review and swatches of the Charlotte Tilbury Matte Revolution Lipsticks

These new lippies are the ultimate matte experience. Gone are the days of a flat and drying matte formula. Charlotte's recognised a woman's need for a quick and easy application that's going to stay put but also bring something new to the table.
With 3D glowing pigments it helps to achieve a fuller and wider look on the lips - snazzy huh?

Sexy Sienna, Love Liberty, Amazing Grace, Red Carpeted and Lost Cherry
A blog review and swatches of the Charlotte Tilbury Matte Revolution Lipsticks
Bond Girl, Glastonberry, Bipkin Brown, Walk of Shame, Very Victoria

Not only is the formula a dream but they're jam packed full of waxes, oils and pigment; meaning you can create an even, moisturising application and build it from a lip stain to a full colour block (my favourite kind). Qualities that don't appear in your average matte Lipstick. Kudos to you, Charlotte!
Not to forget the square-angled tip takes away the need for a lip brush making touch-ups even easier and with 10 colours to choose from, let's just say Autumn ain't gonna be boring, ladies.

What's your pick of the bunch?

Treat yourself to your favourite - available for £23 here and here.

NEW || The Clinique Sonic System Purifying Cleansing Brush

Aloha Sprinklerinos,

I've spoken about it before - cleansing. We have a love hate relationship: I love cleansing, but rarely before bed #badbeautyblogger.

BUT, that said I've got a brand new addition to the family and boy am I excited to give it a whirl.

A blog review on Clinique's Sonic System Purifying Cleansing Brush
A blog review on Clinique's Sonic System Purifying Cleansing Brush
A blog review on Clinique's Sonic System Purifying Cleansing Brush

Let me introduce to you Clinique's sparkly Sonic System Purifying Cleansing Brush *catches breath*. We all know a girl loves a thorough cleanse and that's exactly what this little beauty promises.

If you're not familiar with the whole 'Cleansing Brush' concept, let me get you up to speed. In a nutshell it's an electronic toy (ahem) of greatness, aimed to gently exfoliate and deeply cleanse the skin, removing more dirt, makeup and oil than manual cleansing. You use it alongside a cleanser of your choice and the rest is history.

Sounds like a winner, right? Well, there's more...

Made up of two strengths of rounded bristles, the pale green are shorter, with angled tips to help you reach those pesky areas that are prone to excess oil and clogging of your pores, i.e. the terrible t-zone.  And secondly the white bristles, that are softer and less firm make it ideal for the more sensitive, delicate areas of the face. One of the first things I noticed about the brush was how unbelievably soft the head of the brush was, meaning it's probably going to be suitable for even the most sensitive of skin. Yay!

With a waterproof design, you can use it in the shower (always up for killing two birds with one stone, thank you very much!) and 3 hour battery life mean it's perfect for taking on trips away - which will be great for when I'm away in London as we all know we're prone to a dirty face in the big smoke!

Finally, the self timer shuts the cleanser off after 30 seconds - which is apparently the perfect amount of time to sufficiently cleanse your face. However, once your skin accustoms to the change you can up it to 1 minute - very snazzy.

Are you excited about Clinique's latest innovation? Click the link to learn more about the New Clinique Sonic System Purifying Cleaning Brush. And I'd also love to know if you're already using it and what you think?

Morning Skincare Routine

Aloha Sprinklerinos,

Mornings are not my time. If I had my way, I'd wake up naturally at about 7.45am, laze about in fresh white sheets chatting and pondering the day for a while, pootle about on my laptop and then at about 9.45am, meander to the bathroom and get beautiful.

Alas, those mornings are few and far between and it's more likely to be a blur of taking a toddler to the potty, checking emails on my phone as I brush my teeth and sorting through a crumpled pile of (clean) laundry in a desperate bid to piece a respectable outfit together- results vary.

With that in mind, I've always been a beauty addict and grooming is quite the event for me. I like manicured nails, bouncy hair and glowy skin (again, results vary), so I thought I'd take the opportunity to tell you about the products I'm currently enjoying to shmear (mmm) all over my face. Yes?

First things first, cleanse. This is actually the first hurdle I fall at, don't tell the Beauty Bloggers on me. Soooooo, soommeeettimmessss (read : 'quite often actually'), I sleep in my makeup. I know, I know, very bad. I can't help it. I just get really sleepy and can't quite face dealing with it all. Water wakes me up and I want to stay all sloth-like before I get into bed. Also, I'm that girl that falls asleep watching films/TV so it's usually a case of just waking up in bed, closing my laptop and taking my glasses off. Basically, bad Louise, very sorry.

So here we are, first thing in the morning with sad skin and yesterday's eyeliner all over my face. Sexy. My saving grace here is Emma Hardie Cleansing Balm (£36 for 100ml).

To use this product you scoop out a little bit (I use about as much as I would if it were moisturiser) with your fingers, massage into dry skin, the soft paste turns to lovely warm massagey oil, any eye makeup you had on slides off giving you big ol' coal eyes, take a warm, wet flannel/muslin and gently wipe off. If you have a lot of makeup on, you may want to go back over heavy areas (for me this is eyes).

It's super gentle, smells incredible (oh hai jasmine, moringa, cederwood, orange, neroli and rose), leaves you feeling refreshed, contains vitamin E to balance and purify and claims to reduce the size of pores- something I would verify that it does.

I was quite reluctant to stray from my beloved Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish but Emma Hardie has pipped it to the post. A little luxe in price but worth it for the enjoyment and efficiency.

Since I have six hundred and fifty thousand beauty products floating around my house, I have been making an effort to use them up and lighten my load. This mini Liz Earle Instant Boost Skin Tonic (£5.50 for a mini or £13.25 for 200ml) was left over from some PR samples and, if I'm very honest, I thought wasn't going to be too special.

Wrong. With ingredients like cucumber, chamomile and aloe vera, it soothes and refreshes even very tired skin as well as leaving a 'fine layer of moisture'.

To use toner you tip a little bit onto a cotton pad (I like the flat circle kind), and gently move in circular or swiping motions across cleansed skin. The idea is that it removes anything you left behind (which technically you shouldn't have) and tightens your pores.

I always thought this step was a bit 'emperors-new-clothes', but I have found it's made a difference. It kind of leaves my skin a little bit fresher and younger- and I'm very OK with that.

I have used a couple of different toners in the past but I think I like this one best and will be picking up a big bottle soon.

Now, the anomaly of the bunch, Origin's No Puffery Cooling Roll-On for Puffy Eyes (£24 for the size pictured).

I bought this at Heathrow airport before a long haul LAX flight to replace the (much more affordable) Simple Roll On that was lost in the great Louise-Left-Her-MakeUp-On-The-Aircraft debacle of NYC. I get around haha! I bought it kind of in a haze and if I had to make that choice again, I think I would question whether I needed such a product for such a high price tag.

In hindsight, I was excited in duty free, have a deep trust in Origins (my skin loves that brand) and the packaging was pretty.

The idea of this product is that you roll the cooling metal ball under your eyes, it calms redness, puffiness and helps brighten dark circles. Whilst it certainly feels very lovely (especially on an aeroplane), I'm not 100% sure I need this in my life. However, since I paid a lorra dolla for it, I'm going to use it up and enjoy it whilst it's there.

Not a bad product by any means, just one that is only temporary in my routine.

The final step of my morning skincare routine though? Swoon. Let me introduce you to Origins Make A Difference Plus+ Rejuvenating Moisturiser (£34 for 50ml - the size shown).

This soft, non greasy, a-little-goes-a-long-way, delightful smelling (oh hai lychee, watermelon and rose) beauty is a new staple for me.

It soothes and quenches my normal to dry skin, wakes me up (a big plus for this tired Mama), sinks in wonderfully, allows my makeup to settle well and keeps my skin happy all day. It feels gentle the sensitive areas, I've had no breakouts at any point in the month and I think has softened fine lines near my eyes (but this could be my upped intake of water and the better sleep I've been having lately).

All in all, I love it and will be repurchasing- high praise indeed from a gal who has a box full of beauty samples to delve into!

--------------------------

So there you have it, my very basic but very-happy-with morning skincare routine. As with everything in my beauty life, I like to switch things up and play around but this little set up has been going strong for a few months now and I feel really very comfortable in it.

I would love to hear what you're doing at the moment and if you will be making any changes for Autumn/Winter? Also, let me know if you have tried any of these things and what you thought of them.

And finally, well done if you made it to the end of this post! It was a beast! Haha!

Recent Beauty Favourites

Aloha Sprinklerinos,

Last week I uploaded THIS video discussing beauty products that I have been loving lately and thought I would share it here too.

Beauty Videos are something I ebb and flow with. Sometimes I can't get enough of them and just want to be dazzled and drawn by all the pretty products and wonder creams that will make me look younger, brighter, everything-er and then other times I have no interest at all. Right now though, I'm sucked in. I am fighting a daily urge not to go to Boots and have an £80 splurge. The force is strong. Expect a haul soon!

If you can't see the embedded version, click HERE to be taken to my channel. And, if beauty isn't your bag (baby), then HERE is a video I made the week before discussing celebrity culture amongst YouTubers at conventions and ticketed events. Yeah, thoughts and stuff.

Budget Pamper Treats

Aloha Sprinklerinos,

This week on my YouTube channel I talked about purse friendly ways to pamper yourself this month. I really like this video (vain much?) because it's sweet and snappy and I tried new things during the editing process to challenge and stretch myself creatively. Go me.

I'd be really interested to hear about your budget beauty or pamper tricks and I'd also like to know how you're getting on this month. January can really drag so I'm always trying to think up new ways to make it that little bit more sparkly!

Also, in case you missed last week's video (I didn't feature it on my blog due to THIS post), 'What's In My 2014 MakeUp Bag', you can watch it HERE. If you would like to, please feel free to SUBSCRIBE to my channel. Yay YouTube!

Topshop Goodies

Aloha Sprinklerinos,

On falling into Topshop the other week when I had a few minutes spare before I meeting, I accidentally fell to the till with a handful of new products, my money fell out of my purse and then the products fell into my makeup bag. What can you do eh? These things happen to the best of us.

I thought it might be quite nice to do a little blog haul since I usually feature this kind of thing more prominently on my YouTube channel, it's nice to give my blog a little lovin'.

I haven't fully road tested these products yet so am hesitant to give any kind of review but having used and adored Topshop lipsticks for years, I feel confident that they will be well loved assets to my makeup bag.

In 'The Damned', 'Boom Boom' and 'Beatnik', each lipstick retails at £8 and is creamy, pigmented goodness in a solid metal tube.

I also treated myself to a warm toned highlighter, a 'Lip Bullet' (basically a lip crayon with swivel-up mechanism when it gets blunt) and a Kohl eyeliner in 'coal' which is a trusted re-purchase.

I have always had fantastic experiences with the Topshop line so I am excited to get into these and if anything crazy good/weird/bad happens, I'll be sure to let you know.

If you enjoyed this post or are enjoying sciving from real life for a few minutes, why not read about my 2012 TopShop Splurge or my very first mention of Topshop makeup back in 2011! Yikes!! (I do hope I've improved somewhat since then!!)

What was the last thing you treated yourself to or splurged on?

Skin Saviours | Beauty

Aloha Sprinklerinos,

Wait what? Louise is doing a beauty review? She remembered she used to do those once upon a time? Haha yep! Here I am, getting all beautimus up in yo' face. How'd you like them apples? Ok, enough with the quips, let's get cracking.

lovelifestyle2015_Skincare

Lately I have been opting for a low key routine and feel like quick and easy are the main criteria for all beauty related choices.

That being said, I'm not prepared to sacrifice my skincare and so these are the products I have been relying on to keep me all lovely and smooshy- technical eh?

lovelifestyle2015_Skincare

lovelifestyle2015_Skincare

Origins Make a Difference + has been my facial moisturiser of choice over the past few weeks. I sinks in beautifully, doesn't leave a sticky or greasy residue, has a gentle scent (lychee and watermelon- yum) and let's face it, the packaging is cute too. Anything mint or turquoise gets a thumbs up in my books. At £34 this is definitely a luxury purchase and stung a little bit as I handed over my card but really, I have loved it and dare I say it, will repurchase. My face has enjoyed feeling so soft and quenched. Goodbye dry patches, hello super skin.

Side note - Minutes after I took these photos I dropped the pot and almost cried as I watched about £15 of moisturiser splatter up the wall. Sad times.

lovelifestyle2015_Skincare

lovelifestyle2015_Skincare

Soap and Glory Butter Yourself Body Cream seems to be the product that keeps on giving. This jar has lasted me AGES. With orange, watermelon and fig, this cream smells divine. I want to eat it.

I use this product on my legs and arms and whilst it takes a little while to sink in, it does leave you feeling smoothy soft soft and what more do you want from your legs? Aside from standing and running and such??

For £10.50 for a 300ml jar that lasts a looonngg time, I think this is excellent value. Also, Soap and Glory often have 3 for 2 deals on (online and in store) so look out for those.

lovelifestyle2015_Skincare

Hydraluron Moisture Booster was a pricey but nifty little purchase a few months back that I have loved and will continue to buy. I'm not even going to try and get in on the science lingo (google will be your friend here) but this is a serum. You apply it before your moisturiser to a clean face and it helps look in hydration for longer than just using cream alone. I was sceptical at first but have felt a noticable difference and find it such a quick step in the morning that it's not a lot of extra effort. It sinks in VERY quickly and has no scent so won't clash with whatever else you are using. At £24 for a 30ml tube I think you could call it luxurious but it's a price I'm willing to pay for gorgeous looking skin.

I'd heard great things about Burts Bees Lip Balms ever since I started blogging and looking into these things but never really bought into the hype. A while back I needed something to chuck in my bag and so picked up the original flavour for £3.69. I wouldn't say it's a wonder product and I'm still not sure why everyone piddles their panties (ew) over the brand but it does the job, my lips are balmed. I have since tried the mango flavour and whilst that was really nice, again, I'm not flailing my arms around it wild exuberance over it. They are good, standard, well priced products. There.

And there you have it, the little gems that have been keeping my badaaaiii all soft and lovely. I change my skincare up so often that it was nice to for once stop and talk about it.

I would love to hear what products you are using or loving at the moment or if there is anything you think I would get on with (I have normal-dry skin)?

More beauty chats soon??

1 Minute Hair Style - Easy Messy Bun

Aloha Sprinklerinos,

As any of you who have eyes will have noticed, this Spring I began my transformation from ombred brunette to blondey blonde blonde. It took a few salon trips to achieve the exact hue that I was after but once it was set, I was happy as a little blonde clam.

The important part now is caring for my hair to ensure it stays it's best for longest.

When Pantene Pro-V contacted me and asked if I would like to try their 1 Minute Wonder Ampoules and a few of their other styling kit products from their strength and shine collection, I was keen to see what they could do. The ampoules contain the highest concentration of conditioning actives that promise to leave your hair even stronger against styling damage than before it was dyed- a winner in my books! Easy to use, all you need to do is snap the seal of the ampoule (seriously satisfying), squidge out the conditioner onto freshly washed hair from root to tip, leave on for 1 minute, rinse off and voila- super nourished golden locks of joy.

Something that nourishes this well is highly welcomed by me, since we all know that after a few rounds of bleach, hair can be pretty thirsty.

To celebrate my newly strengthened hair, Pantene asked if I could demonstrate a one minute style and share it with the lovelies that read this blog. Since I so rarely do hair posts (I think I've done about 3 in 4 years haha), I thought it might be nice and that you might enjoy a change- they say change is as good as a holiday after all!

I decided to use a little Pantene Shine Serum to give my hair a bit of pep and gloss. It applied smoothly and evenly and left a lovely sheen to my ever so slightly lacklustre hair (thank you mr blowdryer). I love that this was so quick to use and really was a matter of put-on-hand-put-on-hair. Nourishing and perfect for quickie quick styles.

Using a hair bobble/hairband matching your hair colour, tie a pony tail. Wrap the pony tail round it self to make a bun and secure with another bobble/hairband. Leave a section free at the front. This will give you something to frame your face with in the next step.

Pull and tweak your bun to give it that 'messy' vibe and use kirby grips/bobby pins to secure it in place. I also pulled a few strands out round my face and pinned my fringe/bangs to the side. You can pin in whatever way you think suits you. You can also use hot styling tools (wands/irons) on the pulled out bits if you feel they need it. This is a very flexible style.

To ensure it would be secure for the day I spritzed on Pantene Style and Protect Hairspray.

Tada!! The easiest hairstyle ever! I wear my hair like this A LOT because it requires little effort but kinda looks like you did a lot of work, haha love a hair illusion!
