Use your 'And' | Video

Aloha Sprinklerinos,

Slowly, slowly I am falling back into blogging. It feels good. This feels like a sort of home for me. I love tiptapping away here and talking to you, I feel like you are a friendly face.

This week I uploaded a new YouTube video and incase you aren't subscribed to my channel, you can watch it here too.

I worked with a brand called 'Venus' who sell razors (and I think maybe other hair removal products but don't quote me on that!!) to share the news of their new campaign, 'Use your And'. When I heard about it way back in January I instantly loved it!! I read about a lot of beauty industry campaigns and don't often want to share them because I think they are a bit naff or not my style but this one totally is.

Filming day was great too! I was a little nervous to film this video because I haven't used my big camera in ages, have changed my room round and couldn't figure out a good set up. On top of that, Darcy was in a crazy hyper mood and Matt wasn't available to have her that day. So, fortunately, my sister came over to help me, the set up all just came together beautifully and after a few trial runs, I was really happy with the lighting! Hurrah!

If you are having trouble with the embedded version, click HERE to be taken directly to the video.

What do you think of this campaign? Is it your cup of tea?

Not Worth Watching || YouTube

Aloha Sprinkerinos,

In case you are strictly a blog reader who never ventures onto YouTube (do those people exist?? Are there people out there who actually aren't addicted to YouTube?????), I thought I would share my lastest main channel video with you here too. Yippee.

Last week I filmed a very impromptu video with my good friends Jack Howard and Caspar Lee. I was meant to be just going into the Gleam office for a meeting about the next Amity Tour (oh me oh my those plans are getting VERY exciting!!!) and then Caspar asked me to be in a quiz video he was making! I was supposed to be seeing Jack later that night so dragged him along with me and this silly little video was born.

I'd quite like to do a well planned video with Caspar soon because I really do think he's one of the funniest boys I know as well as the sweetest (but shhhh, don't tell him I told you that!), so if you have any ideas, let me know!

Enjoy the video!! If you have trouble playing the embedded link, click HERE to be taken directly to YouTube for it!

Primark Haul

Aloha Sprinklerinos,

To me, shopping is therapy. Walking round the racks and racks of brightly coloured garments, running my fingers over the textures, flicking through the hangers for my size and picking something up to decide whether I want to take it home or not. Oof. I just love it.

Over the Christmas holiday and last week I made two trips to two different Primarks and collected a few bits and pieces for our upcoming travels (more on those another day).

I made this haul video to show you the delights Primark has to offer at the moment and lots of you left lovely comments saying you enjoyed it.

Sometimes I think watching Haul videos is like the modern day equivelant to window shopping. It's addictive and I love it!

If you are unable to see the embedded version, click HERE to watch it directly on YouTube.

Do you ever shop at Primark? What do you usually buy?

Autumn Lookbook Comments

Aloha Sprinklerinos,

I just wanted to drop by and say such a huge thank you for all the amazing comments you left on my recent Autumn Lookbook.

I logged into my YouTube account today to be met with this little message!

I am always so amazed at how much of a community this is. I see so many lovely things written to and about me but what really gets me is when I see the wonderful things you write to each other.

Thank you for always being so kind to me. I'm not sure I say that enough and wanted to remind you how grateful I am for you. Big, big loves.

Also, apologies for this being so short- I have a three year old desperate for me to do some colouring with her!!! Mama duties call!!! <3 p="">

The Pointless Video

Aloha Sprinklerinos,

Last week my good friend Alfie Deyes bought out his brand new book- The Pointless Book.

Is is an interactive activity book where you are encouraged to play games, draw little doodles, finish off pictures, answer silly questions or do specific tasks in your life. It's a lot of fun and something absolutely worth making a video on!

Lucky for me Hazel was ready for the challenge and so we had a giggly little morning playing with the book and making a light video for you- hope you enjoy it!

Internet Friends

Aloha Sprinklerinos,

If you are a follower of Sprinkle of Glitter or Sprinkle of Chatter on YouTube then this isn't a new story for you. However, if you are strictly a blogspot kinda gal, this might give you a warm fuzzy of joy.

Three years ago, whilst reading the comments on one of my latest videos, I stumbled across a comment that peaked my interest, clicked on the profile, fell instantly in love with the channel, emailed the lady who ran it and skip forward 36 months, she's one of my besties!

The only issue is geography. With her living in Seattle and me near London, we had to manage a long distance bromance (can ladies have a 'bromance'??).

Here is the story of how, this Easter, things changed.

If you are unable to view the embedded version, click here to go directly to the video.

Since uploading this video I have heard SO many similar stories of internet friendships. If you have one, leave it in the comments. I know I enjoy reading about them so bet others do too!

Gentle Family Time

Aloha Sprinklerinos,

Cheese and pickle, I'm on a roll! I have been uploading to both my Sprinkle of Glitter and Sprinkle of Chatter channels like a pro this week. You may well have seen THIS side splitting collab with DanIsNotOnFire but the video I want to share is below.

It was a bit of a challenge for me because it's the first time I've done music parts over and it's the first vlog in a long time that I've been calm, Mummy and Wifey. Lovely, lovely, lovely.

If this embedded version is not working for you, click HERE. Also, if you haven't subscribed to my second channel and would like a little email each time there is something new, do feel free. It's HERE

Blogging Update - I'm enjoying tip-tapping on here a bit more regularly. I feel like I've lost my writing mojo but after four and a half years of going full pelt, I'm not going to cry about it. Instead, I'm going to keep going and know that with practise it will return. Until then, bare with me :)

What kind of videos do you enjoy to watch the most?

Recent Beauty Favourites

Aloha Sprinklerinos,

Last week I uploaded THIS video discussing beauty products that I have been loving lately and thought I would share it here too.

Beauty Videos are something I ebb and flow with. Sometimes I can't get enough of them and just want to be dazzled and drawn by all the pretty products and wonder creams that will make me look younger, brighter, everything-er and then other times I have no interest at all. Right now though, I'm sucked in. I am fighting a daily urge not to go to Boots and have an £80 splurge. The force is strong. Expect a haul soon!

If you can't see the embedded version, click HERE to be taken to my channel. And, if beauty isn't your bag (baby), then HERE is a video I made the week before discussing celebrity culture amongst YouTubers at conventions and ticketed events. Yeah, thoughts and stuff.

If you have any requests or suggestions for videos, do leave them below!

Playlist 2014 - The Vlogs

Aloha Sprinklerinos,

If you follow me on any of my social media (twitterfacebookinstagram etc), you will know that last week I popped off to Orlando for 7 days to attend Playlist Live. I thought I would share with you the 5 videos uploaded from the week because yanno, it's a big deal. I left the country and everything!

What made this trip so perfect for me was the people I spent it with.

- Zoe -

I have read a lot of rubbish lately about Zoe and I not being friends but there is no such drama. With Zoella and Sprinkle of Glitter both doing so well, we both have mad diaries and find it hard to get to each other regularly. We talk every day either by phone, skype, text or facebook, but like all normal friends, we don't throw it all over twitter every time we do! Haha. This week we were able to see each other all the time and have some lovely little moments together. Edit - Since I wrote this last week, we have had a lovely weekend in Brighton together too. Post coming soon.

Highlights - Going craycray when we realised the plane tv had Broadchurch on it, singing Frozen songs, being rescued in the hair and makeup department after a big night out and going to IHOP on the first day.

- Maddie -

Maddie works for Gleam (my management company) and is my go-to lady. I love her. She is SUCH a warm soul and goes far beyond what her job asks of her (*thinks back to Maddie applying foundation to my shins on a shoot once*). This week Maddie was my rock when I had a silly little cry over nothing (what a surprise) and looked after me when I was being a scatterbrain. I would DEFO have had a meltdown without her around.

Highlights -  Our little trip to the spa for a hair appointment, chatting rubbish in the pool late at night and all round being completely mummied. Also- thank you for making me eat even when adrenaline tricked me into thinking I didn't need to.

- Alfie -

Alfie is my go to for anything and everything. Got a problem? Alfie will fix it. Confused or lost? Alfie knows the way. Think you're going to throw up in a taxi? Alfie will film it. Oh wait. Heh heh.
Having Alfie on these trips makes me feel so secure about things. I knooooow this sounds really ridiculous and totally gender biased but I always turn to male friends for comfort and protection (not against beasts and dragons, just yanno, when you're having a wibble) and girls for camaraderie. I also love how much he adores my Zoe and feel relaxed knowing she is happy and well.

Highlights - Being rescued off a half deflated bouncy castle, showing off my excellent squid impressions in the pool and a little jaunt to The Cheesecake Factory.

- Dan and Phil -

Be still my beating heart these boys make me feel happy. You know you've got good guy friends when they make sure you get safely to your hotel room at 5am after (shhhhh) one or two cocktails and don't mock you the next day. Having them down the hall to cry laugh with on a daily basis was the best and I'm contemplating buying them the house next door so we can do this more often.

Highlights - Everything from the night I wore the floaty white dress, learning how far back Dan's chair went when there were 2 of us on it (that sounds more kinky than it was btw) and the part of the snowman dance I couldn't film. Oooooh mysterious. ;)

- Jack -

Wow. According to the comments, you like mine and Jack's friendship a LOT. We've been pretty close for a few months now but it's never been vlogged so it seems like it might be a bit of a surprise to all of you? Having Jack around was a hoot. There are so many similarities between us that playtime is hilarious and banter is easy. I think Jack brings out a different side to my humour than usual and it was fun to show you that in the vlogs. He's a good'un.

Highlights - Bedroom games (watch the videos, don't think minxy thoughts please), a perfect roller coaster and ganging up on him with Zoe (you have no idea how much 'banter' I've had to withstand from his friends over the last six months - I once cried!!!).

There were many, many more people that made my trip so special, not to mention all the oh-so-lovely viewers I had the pleasure and honour of chatting too. There were so many times that week that I took a moment to stand back and think, 'my life is so freaking cool' and I have you all to thank for it.

I promise to always thank you for everything, to never get too big for my boots and to always share the highlights (and low lights) on here.

Warm smooshy cuddles and hair strokes for everyone.

Feel Good Experiments

Aloha Sprinklerinos,

As you know, I've been a little bit absent on here of late as I have been jetting off to America and spending a lot of my time editing and uploading the videos of my adventure. I was going to leave it a week but when Activia got in touch to tell me about their new campaign, I felt it was such a good fit that I should share it ahead of time. Eager beaver.

As I have spoken about bazillions of times before, feeling good starts from within and when you feel lovely, you can make the very most of your time and just be present in the moment, enjoying it. This past year I have been working so hard on just enjoying each little moment and really feel that it's made a positive impact on my happiness levels. Yay yay.

Dancing is the perfect expression of feeling good from within, as the video above shows (or any of my vlogs where I'm dancing about like a loon!). I have loved learning about the Feel Good Experiments as they encourage women to feel lovely on the inside and show it on the outside- the perfect balance of happiness, which is what I'm all about.

If you're looking for a quick pick-me-up, have a looksie at the video and try not to smile. It gives you warm fuzzies and happies.

What do you do to feel good?

Behind The Scenes || YouTube Videos

Aloha Sprinklerinos,

Today I'm going to talk about something that usually slips through the net- making videos for YouTube. Obviously the videos themselves don't slip through, they are proudly sat on my channel waiting for you to graciously give them a few minutes of your time, but the process of making them and the things done to get to completion are so rarely discussed, I thought I would talk really candidly about the whole shibang.

I figure that if I find it really interesting, someone else might and if that's you then hooray. Mission accomplished.

The video we are using as our case studio today is THIS Valentines Get Ready With Me (GRWM) which I uploaded on Sunday 31st of January and at time of writing this has over 375,000 views. Happy days.

I didn't realise this snap hadn't been taken but it's kind of perfect for this post. I'm going to use it as a little map to show you all the things you wouldn't know just from watching the video (featured below).

1. Two things about this little spot:
Firstly, see that pink Polaroid? It was gifted to me by a lovely gal I had the pleasure of hanging out with a couple of years ago at a YouTube gathering and also featured twice in the video. First at 0.17 minutes in and then 2.11. Fun fact for you - the picture I was shaking and that you then see developed is actually Katie Snooks filming the video. Originally it was just a nod to each other because we thought it was nifty but now the secret's out and you know too!
Secondly, notice how stiff my left arm is as I intro the video? That's because my bottom was perched on the edge of the teal cabinet and I thought it was about to collapse. We shot that part with very tense thighs and a silent prayer that I didn't crash and break it, haha.

2. This is Katie Snooks or 'Snoozey' as I like to call her. She works for my management company but also runs her own blog and YouTube channel. Since GRWM videos aren't as static as sit down vlogs, she offered to come up from London and film it for me, which I was super grateful of. She filmed using my camera which is the canon 70D with a EFS 17-55mm lens. It was shot on manual mode and I stupidly forgot to turn the stabilise button on. You live and learn. The whole reason the picture above was taken was to demonstrate what a little dot Snoozey is. Either that or I'm a giant. You decide.

3. Darcy dolly debris. As well as filming videos I am a Mama so aim to film whilst she is napping or with family. On this day though my step mum and aunties were unavailable to take her on adventures so my step sister Hollie kindly came round and played with her downstairs. Obviously though, I can't keep my hands off the little squidge and regular cuddles and plays were in order. Next time you see a cut in my videos, chances are there has been a little Darcy playtime in between.

4. Beauty junk. In the video you can see the wires of the hair tools I didn't end up using and I'm annoyed about this. Whenever I watch it back I wish I had moved them before the camera was turned on but alas, you can't win everything. Also in that video I had all my makeup to my right which felt REALLY unnatural and there are about sixty billion edited out clips of me saying, 'ooh it's weird having it all here'. Fun factoid for you there. If you're planning on making a video, ensure you have EVERYTHING to hand before filming. You will be so glad of your preparation.

5. The set up. This is probably the most important part of the making process and something I still mess up on a regular basis! When filming upstairs I always sit in front of my window at around 11.30am as this is when it's bright but not direct sunlight-burning-your-eyes-out bright. To really make the most of the available light I scrunch the curtains up out the way- not ideal but yanno. I use a Hama Star 75 tripod to keep my camera where I want it and usually that's it. For beauty videos I need a mirror and so end up taking a little trolly thing I bought in a vintage shop last year, loading on a few boxes and then popping my mirror on top. So professional!! If I did more beauty videos, I would invest in something a little more substantial but for now, this higgle piggle option works fine.

^^The video we're chatting about ^^

Tip! Social Media

Once your video is live, you're going to want to talk about it on social media. Be mindful of this during the video making process and be efficient. For example, take pictures on your smartphone as you go, that you can use for twitterfacebookinstagram etc or 'live tweet/instagram/facebook' as you do it (eg. "Excited to be filming my new video!") so that your audience know what to expect and can (hopefully) look forward to it.

Other things I try to do on filming days are have plenty of drinks and yummy snacks to hand (if someone is helping you film then they'll be glad of them too!), leave myself plenty of time so you eradicate any sense of panic (things are easily fluffed when you're in that mood) and write little bullet points of what's important to be in the video so you don't forget anything.

I am absolutely no expert at making videos for YouTube (or anything haha) but I thought it might be nice to share some of my experiences and things I've learnt over the years.

If you have any questions about anything I've talked about, do ask as I'd be happy to do another post answering all your queries!

Was that useful or interesting? I hope so!

Budget Pamper Treats

Aloha Sprinklerinos,

This week on my YouTube channel I talked about purse friendly ways to pamper yourself this month. I really like this video (vain much?) because it's sweet and snappy and I tried new things during the editing process to challenge and stretch myself creatively. Go me.

I'd be really interested to hear about your budget beauty or pamper tricks and I'd also like to know how you're getting on this month. January can really drag so I'm always trying to think up new ways to make it that little bit more sparkly!

Also, in case you missed last week's video (I didn't feature it on my blog due to THIS post), 'What's In My 2014 MakeUp Bag', you can watch it HERE. If you would like to, please feel free to SUBSCRIBE to my channel. Yay YouTube!

November Video Round Up.

Aloha Sprinklerinos!

I hope you're all well and keeping snug in this winter weather.  I've got a surprise video round up for you today in which I share with you Sprinkle of Glitter November videos! Enjoy!

Lush Haul

I may or may not have bought an overly large amount of Lush items to make myself and my bath smell beautiful. If you haven’t swooned at the festive bathy bits and bobs the Lush are currently offering, then you must watch and get excited with me. Warning: I will not be held responsible for the wrath of a huge water bill after all your lushtastic baths!

 Beauty Faves

This month I shared with you some of my current favourite beauty products, including a swanky pink hairdryer, a drug store foundation and tasty American treats. If you haven’t already discovered what I’m loving this month, then do so! Let me know you’ve popped along by telling me your favourite beauty love this month in the comments.

Baby Glitter Room Tour

Darcy and I shared a tour of her bedroom this month, I’ve loved decorating it with trinkets and treasures over the years, I want it to be the perfect little girls’ palace for Darcy as she gets older. What was your favourite bedroom trinket as a child?

Zoe or Louise?!

A few weeks ago when Zoe Chummy came to play with Matt, Darcy and I we filmed a fun friendship video in which we guessed who out of the two of us would be most likely to… watch the video to find out!!

Boundaries and Saying No

Zoe and I also started a new series called ‘Chummy Chatter’ on our vlog channels in which we discuss serious topics and offer some advice. On Sprinkle of Chatter this month we talked about boundaries and saying no to those of you who put you in situations you’re uncomfortable with.

Phew! I hope you've enjoyed this months videos, let me know which has been your favourite!

Aloha Sprinklerinos,

This week on YouTube I appealed to my hoarder side and filmed a huuugge stationery haul.

If you like browsing the aisles of paper shops, you are going to LOVE this video.

Something I forgot to show some blog love to last month was my Boys, Dating and Lurrvvee video and so today is the day it makes it's debut on my blog.

I would normally stay and chat but I have an over excited toddler by my side and a to-do list longer than my leg (and I'm tall!) so must dash!

As always, if you have any particular topics you'd like to see covered in a video then feel free to leave a comment.

Having Hope

Aloha Sprinklerinos,

If you are exclusively a blog reader and haven't hopped over to my channel, I uploaded a video this week that I have been astounded by the response to.

I don't want to talk about it too much in this post but to say the very least, I have been so touched. And not in that way you filthy minx.

If you haven't yet watched, by the wonders of modern technology I have embedded my video above.

I have a new video coming out tomorrow and hopefully one on Sunday too so keep your sparkling eyes peeled.

Fluffy Bunny Challenge

Aloha Sprinklerinos,

This week in YouTubeLand has been CRAZY. I've uploaded two videos and attended a film premiere for The Lone Ranger. I would try and be cool about that but I can't. Johnny Depp was there. I breathed the same air as Edward Scissorhands. Need I say more? No. Pictures on twitter and instagram.

Aside from being miss jazzy premiere goer, I uploaded a fun video with my good friend Mark, who really kindly agrees to be my on-screen Husband. I do love him for being such a good sport.

You won't learn anything from this video but you might just have a little laugh.

It may come as no surprise to a lot of you that I am a fat woman. Let's call a spade a spade. I am plus size, curvy, chubby, cuddly, volumptuous, fat. I use none of these terms in a degrogatory fashion and take non of them as an insult. I am what I am.

I'm not going to shout from the rooftops, 'I'm proud to be chunky!', but nor am I going to hide away and feel ashamed of myself or dirty in some fashion. Reasons people are overweight and what should be done about it are not for this post, nor is any debate as to whether I'm promoting obesity (I've had that one before- I'm not. I want you to be healthy and happy). This post and video is to say- If you are larger, for whatever reason, you can wear nice clothes. If you are unhappy with a part of your body, take comfort in the knowledge that a LOT of other people are too and it's not as big a deal as it feels in your head.

I would consider myself a glamourous person (and modest too haha), but I am fully aware of my flaws. I have a funny blue-ish lump on my inner calf of my left leg from where I was abused as a child, I have cellulite on my thighs from where I have eaten more calories than I burn, I have a wobbly tummy from where I grew an entire human being, I have tiny red dots on my upper arms (I think this may be an allergy thing), I have naturally rosey cheeks that often show through foundation. Saying all that though, I have a cinched in waist, great (in my opinion) boobies, fun hair, both my legs, both my arms and am able to do and dress as I please- a luxury many women are not afforded.

Let's set aside our body hangups for 5 minutes (literally in your head, put them in a bag and pop that bag outside) and think about what we do like. Now remember it. You're alright. It's only flesh and bones, it's not the end of your life. You are a beautiful woman.

What do you love to wear? Has this video/blog post been of any use to you? Tell me in the comments if you would like to see more of this kind of thing.

eBay Haul & Giveaway | Video

Aloha Sprinklerinos,

(Sidenote- I'm really enjoying taking it easy this week, thank you for being so, so understanding and kind in THIS post. It has meant such a lot to me to have your support.)

This week I uploaded a haul and giveaway video to my YouTube Channel. I love being able to do giveaways because I think it adds an element of excitement to things and allows viewers to be more involved in the community.

If you haven't already seen it, you can watch it above, or, if it's not working, you can click here to go directly to my channel. Please do consider subscribing whilst you're over there.

It was really fun to have a little splurge on eBay, do you remember when I got really obsessed with THIS STUDDED BAG from there? I still use and love it!! Oh, and Hollie is still loving THIS GIANT PALETTE I bought her.

Happy days all round.

What kind of video would you like to see next? I'm all ears.
