I Love You Because

Aloha Sprinklerinos,

Last week we had our cherished friend Clare over for dinner and heard all about a wedding she had recently attended. She told us about how the vicar at the service had offered great relationship advice and suggested that instead of a quick, 'love you!', trying, 'I love you because...' and a reason.

This struck a cord with me. Marriage is not my strong suit. I'm quick to temper and even quicker to point out Matt's flaws. I say loving things and so does he but I think after 9 years of being together and hearing them daily that the gravity of their meaning gets lost.

I realised that for all the frustrations I (sometimes unjustly) have, I don't do the things I want most to have for myself. I want to feel a bazillion per cent wanted and be appreciated for all my good qualities, whilst having all my bad qualities ignored. The dream right?

I find it so easy to think gorgeous thoughts about people but find it so challenging to say them to them. So here we are, still not really saying it to him, pouring it all into my blog which, sometimes it seems, I write mostly for my own therapy and sanity. I hope you don't mind.

Dear Matt,

I'm sorry I don't always communicate the really deep stuff with you and I'm sorry I automatically expect you to do that for me.

I love you BECAUSE you take care of all the little things like taking plates to the dishwasher and fetching me my laptop charger.

I love you BECAUSE you know what I need when I'm unsettled or worried.

I love you BECAUSE of your endless support to my passions. Remember in 2007 when I spent £300 on beads for my beading craze and you didn't mind? Haha.

I love you BECAUSE you know how much Sprinkle of Glitter means to me and hold it in high regard.

I love you BECAUSE in 9 years you have never made me feel less than I am.

I love you BECAUSE you sleep in the pinkest bedroom, just because you know it makes me happy.

I love you BECAUSE of the Father you are to Darcy.

I love you BECAUSE you continually and diligently try your best at work, every day, even when it's exhausting and frustrating.

I love you BECAUSE you put up with my mental ideas. Like the time I wanted to paint the bathroom gold or the time I wanted a loft conversion.

I love you BECAUSE you read all the links I send you to blog posts I've enjoyed.

I love you BECAUSE you let me sleep in the car even though you'd probably like some company.

I love you BECAUSE you don't mind how many makeup products I leave ALL OVER the house.

I love you BECAUSE despite me being a meanie more often than I should, you still love me back.

Love,

Louise.

xx

Whoever it is you're saying, 'I love you' to, I'd encourage you to add a 'because' on there and strengthen your sentiments so much more.

Apologies for being so emosh, this post was probably more for me that you but I feel really good for writing it all down. Next step - saying it!

The Best Of February

Aloha Sprinklerinos,

Cripes has February has wizzed past in the blink of an eye. Once again we're nearing the end of the month and I thought I'd finish it off by sharing a nifty little round up of February posts on Sprinkle of Glitter. It's been a good'un!

February on Sprinkle of Glitter an introduction to my husband, Matt. It's not often I'll dedicate an appreciation post to the man in my life, but this month Matt has certainly come up trumps on the husband scale and I could not resist sharing his wonderful ways with you HERE. This month Matt also filmed his very first vlog for Sprinkle of Chatter which you can watch that HERE. Isn't he a dreamboat? Haha.

'My iPhone life' returned this month on Sprinkle of Glitter and I'm pleased as punch that you enjoy seeing these little snippits of my life as much as I enjoy capturing them. I shared with you HERE some iPhone snaps I had taken throughout January whilst I enjoyed the adventures of being mummy, friend and Youtuber.

Matt made another appearance this month, this time as my sweet Valentine. You can read it HERE. He truly gives me all the warm and fuzzies and I'm a lucky, lucky lady!

There's another important, smaller, person I am lucky to have in my life, Baby Glitter. I contemplated sharing a post about motherhood being my crowning moment of glory in life, but instead I wrote about what I've learnt as a mama since bringing a teenytiny into the world, built in alarm clock included. You can read about my thoughts on motherhood HERE.

Finally I discussed the whole shibang behind creating a Youtube video, yummy snacks and all! If you're curious about the process of creating Youtube videos, the set up involved or the all important props I use then you can read my 'behind the scenes' post HERE. I hope it was helpful for ya!

And that was my February! Let's hope March brings us some sunnier skies, eh?

Toodlepip!

That Guy Matt

Aloha Sprinklerinos,

I spend so so much of my time talking about Motherhood, friendships, personal growth and work adventures on here but so very rarely discuss that guy Matt. You know, that man I married, live with and the Father of my bambino.

Matt_And_Lou
(Mr & Mrs)

The reason I have kept him so hush hush for the past four years is because isn't really a, 'hey look at me!' kinda guy and works in a high school so was a little reserved about having so much of his life out there for all and sundry to read. I get it. I respect it.

Lately though, the little love has been finding himself more and more interested in blogging and vlogging and taking quite big steps to be more involved which basically, THRILLS ME. This means he is appearing in more and more Chatter channel vlogs and is happy to be featured on my blog more too. Yay, yippe and huzzah!

I'd quite like write more Matt centred blog posts since he is obviously such a huge part of my life but feel lost as to what you'd like to know. What are you interested in? Are you interested in anything at all? Are you wondering why you're even reading haha?

For those that are totally new- Matt and I met at university in Liverpool and I (being a naive teenager) thought he was oh-so-cool because he was 21 already and seemed very suave. He thought I was cute and eccentric and after 8 months of shillyshallying around (you know how it goes), we were an item. After graduating I stayed in Liverpool for a few more years because it's his hometown (I love me a scouser) and because the city has a big place in my heart. Then, we moved down closer to London, bought a house, said 'I do', baby made three and voila, here we are, the Glitter Family. That's us in a nutshell.

I'm glad he puts up with me. He is always so supportive of my job (which we both love but understand it's not your average 9-5), weathers my ever changing mind, shares the housework and plans little trips for us. I realise how lucky I am and this year am really striving to find more ways to show him my appreciation (minds out of gutters please ladies ;) ).

Comment homework today is - What would you like to know about us? Ask anything, it's a free-for all. What do you do to show love for your other half or what would you do if you were in a relationship? Should I encourage Matt to one day write a blog post? What would you like to read from him?

You can (only if you want to) follow him on twitter HERE

Exciting times Sprinklerinos!

Sunset Date Night

Aloha Sprinklerinos,

Last weekend whilst in Liverpool, Matt's Mum and Dad asked to have Darcy one evening (we're so thankful to have such keen babysitters) and since we had no plans, we hopped in the car to see what adventures would unfold.

Matt decided to take me on a little tour of all the places he went as a child. We had a stroll on Formby beach (pictured in Tuesday's post), drove on another who's name I've forgotten and then pootled up to Southport before driving home. Since I grew up in the middle of the country without a grain of sand in sight, it was a real treat to go to three different beaches in one evening. We didn't stay long on any of them as it was getting windy and the sun had gone in, but I managed a few snaps to remember the night.

It wasn't wild, it wasn't fast paced and it wasn't expensive but it was luxurious. When you have children/jobs/responsibilities, dedicated leisure time with one an other is so wonderful. Matt and I have been spending so much of it together lately (thanks to both sets of grandparents having a bit of Darcy time) and we have loved it. We don't like to ask people to babysit for us because we enjoy to have our daughter accompany us and we don't like to put people out, but I think I have started to value 'couple time' a lot more lately because it allows us to make sure we are reading off the same page and are both going in the right direction.

What do you do with your partner to stay in tune? Do any of you have dedicated 'date nights'? Your suggestions would be very welcome.

A Slice of Us

Aloha Sprinklerinos,

I use this blog partly to share and partly to document my life. Life wise, I spend a great deal of time talking about Darcy and not a lot about Matt. This is never going to be a marriage or relationship blog, but today I want to share a slice of us with you.

lovelifestyle2015 husband

Ten Things About Us

One of our favourite things to do with a free evening (very rare because I tend to film/write/edit when Darcy sleeps) is to watch a cheapy American romcom DVD with the lights off. Every time I go to the supermarket I have a look in the £3 section and if there are any light hearted romantic comedies in there, I grab them. We tidy the lounge of toys and mess, turn the lights off and just sit and watch a whole film. To us, it's bliss.

We have our own special language called 'Tang'. It was born out of a weird little private joke we had in Marseilles, France. Does this make our special language a French citizen??

No matter what bed we're sleeping in, Matt will take the side nearest the door. This is in case of monsters because apparently, they'll use the door.

Our house is a mixture of pastels (me) and spiderman junk memorabilia (him). It doesn't go but we're making it work. If only Spidey would rock a bit of sky blue instead.

We have not one single photograph of our wedding on display. I felt so under confident at the time and due to a lot of rubbish (rude ex step mother, morning sickness, financial stress) in my life I look back and think I looked vile in them all. In an ideal world, we'll renew our vows and I'll love it. I'd have Zoe as my photographer. Writing this has made me think that perhaps I could book a photography session with Matt and recreate some pictures?

Matt's signature dish is chicken and chorizo paella. My signature dish is dominos pizza. Both brilliant.

Despite doing very different jobs now, Matt and I did actually work together for six months in an office in Liverpool. I really enjoyed it because I liked walking home with him and seeing him about but he says he missed having space. Little bugger.

To date we have only been abroad together twice (France and Gran Caneria). We still haven't had our honeymoon but this October we are going on a family holiday to Orlando and are both crazy excited for it!!

We used to have a mixed tape style CD that had the theme tune to Home And Away on it. If he was in the mood, we would sing that song in a perfect duet and we know all the versus. I'm so tempted to reintroduce that CD to the car.

Even when out for drinks with friends on a night off from parenthood, we find ourselves talking about Darcy. This weekend we went out and on the club dancefloor played a game of 'Dance like the baby does'. Honestly, dancing like a 2 year old, whilst wearing a Ted Baker dress and having more than a couple of cocktails inside you is side splittingly funny. Try it!

And that's ten. I'd quite like to do another post like this (with another equally slushy photograph) so if you have any questions or things you'd like to know, leave them in the comments and I'll use them for ideas!
