  • Add ribbon trim to new bedskirt - Vetoed
  • Sew three euro pillow covers - Done!
  • Sew bolster cover - Done!
  • Make bedside table for my side - Done!
  • Make covering for bedside table - Half done
  • Paint base of bedside lamps - Done!
  • Get new lamp shades - Done!
  • Make art work for over the bed - Changed to sides of bed
  • Find a way to cover switch box across from bed - Done!
  • Hang curtains - Done!
  • Pretty up bedside tables

  • I'll be taking pics this weekend to share with everyone on Monday!

Now on to the news... you may remember a few posts ago, I talked about joint pain and wheat intolerance.

Well, I finally stopped the self diagnosis and went to see my doctor. Turns out after a few blood tests that I have a full blown allergy to wheat along with a few other items I happen to love, like shrimp. Also turns out I like to be completely random with my allergies... such as with shrimp, but no other shellfish and wheat, but not gluten. I'm so confused, right now and it seems like my journey just got a little longer. Oh joy!

    Till next time...

    The Super Bowl Weekend!

Hey peeps! How's it hanging in your neck of the woods? I know that most of the country is being hit hard with cold temps and storms, I so sorry. I wish that I could send you some of our sunshine. The forecast for Sacramento shows mid 60's and sunny skies. Perfect weather to have a Super Bowl Party.

Will you be watching the big battle of the brothers, even if its just for the commercials? Normally that's my sole interest, but this year it's one of our home teams going (49ers) and I love Ray Lewis (Ravens) too sooo.... I'm kinda torn.  To tell you the truth, I feel bad for the parents of the two coaches... how can they be overjoyed for one son, when the other son will have just lost? Man, I wouldn't want to be in their shoes at the end of the game.

Anywho, the reason for me popping in this afternoon is to share a picture with you. (If you follow me on Facebook, you may have already seen it.) Remember my planner with the wonderful tabs?

Well, this is what the tabs look like right now... :(

    Let's look again...

The labels are peeling off. This weekend I'll be figuring out a way to get my labels to stick while watching Lewis and Kapernick go head to head. What will you be up to besides watching the Super Bowl?

Enjoy the game... or the commercials.
    Till next time.

    TGI... Friday and Weekend Plans

Hey you! How did week round out for you? Mine turned out pretty good. Nothing to complain about. But I'm still overjoyed that its Friday!!!

Do you have anything special planned for the weekend? If you live in the Sacramento Area, why not come hangout here? I'm making sure that I stroll through there at least once this weekend.

The Northern CA Home & Landscape Expo
    H&L Featured

From what I read on the website, the ASID Designers will be there and having a sample sale. Sounds like it may be worth taking a look right.

Other than that, I'm going to be updating the blog with the new printable tab and trying to figure out how to link some of this files. Here's a preview of what's to come.

This is from our financial binder, by the way, which I'll be sharing  next week. I'm uber excited to share the binder and all the printables from both binders with you.

    Till next time...

    It's 2013 Already!

Well... well... well. Look what the cold air blew in. Yes, I am still alive over here in California. I have taken a much need break to regroup, refocus and redefine.... you know all the re's that person tends to do when you don't hear from them for awhile. I took this time the get settled in a new job and new area, spend time with my great nephew, and much much more.

You know what's funny? During my hiatus, I did not decorate nor organize the new digs at all. That's not to say the place is in total disarray. I mean, I can count on one hand that number of pictures hung on the wall and I do have a neat space to pay bills and plan menus. What I'm talking about goes beyond surface level fluff. I haven't dug deep and got down "business." Have you ever been in this place before? Have you ever thought, " Awe, I'll get to it," and getting to it never happens? Why? Well, you realize there are more important things in life at the moment? Well, that's been me for the past four months. And while I enjoyed my down time in the back of my mind I thought about my blog. I even kept up with all the blogs that I follow. And now I'm ready to rejoin the land of the blogging.

What's ahead in the next six months for The Uncluttered Lifestyle.
    1. New blog design! (I'm really excited about this one!)
    2. Decorate master bedroom (There is not even a bedskirt on our bed... oh the horror.)
    3. Organize blogging space
    4. Organize awkward coat closet (Just wait until you see that crazy space. Picture deep and unlit.)
    5. A little "temporary" decorating in family room (Why temporary?)
    6. Possibly a new home...
Oh yes people more than likely there is a new home coming for us in the next six months. If it does come to fruition I look forward to bringing you along on the selection process.

These are just the highlights, there many fun projects ahead. I look forward to getting back into the blogging world and spending more time with you in this new year.

    Till next time...

    Guess Who's Home?!

Hey ya'll. I'm back with a few updates, but first let me say thank you to those that have stuck in there during my hiatus. I know that importance of keeping material fresh and interesting for readers, so I certainly appreciated when I logged on today I was not alone. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

Now on to some exciting news... we have moved, but are currently living with relatives. We have found a new home but it will not be ready for another three weeks. Lots of decorating and organizing ahead! I'm actually looking forward to that... but that probably doesn't surprise you.

And lastly... GUESS WHO'S HOME?!?!?!? Yes, Baby Jayven came home from the NICU this week. Do you know what a miracle that is? This is the baby that doctors said wouldn't making it past birth, that is now three months old and residing at home! Is it smooth sailing ahead? No, but he has proven that he's not going down without a fight!

Here I captured a moment with my niece caressing Jayven's (her first nephew) head. It makes me teary-eyed every time I look at it. So sweet. At this point he had been home only a matter of hours. I think we were all amazed to have him come home.

Missing In Action... But More Posts Ahead

Hello! It's been a few weeks again since we've talked. It seems as though life has been getting in the way of blogging. But today I do have some exciting news to share with you.

First and foremost, remember my nephew, Jayven. Before he was born the doctors discovered he had a disorder called Trisomy 4p. I mentioned on the blog that they didn't expect him to live long past birth, if he made it past delivery at all. During delivery there was one doctor per organ in the delivery room, what a scene that was! Then he was born with a plethora of complications, one which required a tracheotomy. Once again the doctors said that he would not survive the surgery. Well, delivery has come and gone, the tracheotomy has come and gone and Jayven is still proving to be a little fighter... (let me tell ya, it runs in the family)! Jayven is now 5 weeks old and the doctors are amazed!

Last weekend I spent four days in his neck of the woods and was able to hold him for the first time. He's so tiny (6.2 lbs) he was full term, but everything about him is as if he were premature. During my visits I discovered I have quite the knack for putting him to sleep. (Here I'm sending him subliminal messages that I'm his favorite great aunt. I had to emphasis "great" because his aunt (mommy's sister) was sitting within sticking distance. LOL) Also, the blue tube is to keep the trachea area moist. Oh and yes he has me wrap around his tiny finger.

Now on to other exciting new... Its looking like we are going to be moving! To a whole new city too! More details and preparing to move posts ahead!

    Therapy In The Garden

It's been a while since I've posted, my enthusiasm, motivation, or whatever you want to call it took a self-imposed break without any forewarning. I just have not had it in me to work on, organize, or paint anything. I think my body just need some time to digest everything that has happened and all my energy was being used to cope with day to day life, without losing my sanity.

During that time the hubster and I spent a lot of time in the yard. It's amazing how therapeutic gardening can be, even if its just pulling weeds, I did plant some new flowers though. It gave me time to be with my thoughts, release some pent-up emotions (cry) and talk to God. (Sigh) What a relief it was.

Given all the time spent in the yard, I did take a few photos. Some I want to share with you are, my Irises. But first I just have to show you the state of the irises when we first looked at the house. Really, the entire house was suffering from a serious case of neglect. The bunch of half-dead looking leaves (aka irises), are a testimony to that fact. Sad I tell ya, just sad.

We moved in, in November and the following spring I transplanted them. That was a year ago. This year I was excited to buds everywhere.

And then a week later the buds were even taller!

    And finally...

Believe or not this entire "L" of irises are only the ones from the original photo. I think after they're finishing blooming it time to divide them.

Someone asked if when I planted them I knew what colors they were because the colors are almost perfectly spaced... I had no clue what colors they were. Lets call it serendipity.

Here's a flower for you! Thank you for the sweet comments and emails during my absence.
