Hello April

Aloha Sprinklerinos,

Welcome April! How very nice to have you. You bring the promise of warmer weather, pink cherry blossom, lighter evenings and in our family, a whole host of birthdays.

I love April. To me it is the official start of Spring (which yes, I know, is actually in March) and a time when I think people start to feel that extra pep in their step. It's mine and Darcy's birthday this month, she'll be 4 in 6 days (where does time go???) and so we'll be celebrating both. On top of that I have a little bit more time to focus on filming videos now that one of my projects has been finalised (more on that in a few weeks) and I hope to spend a little bit of time Spring cleaning my house because it certainly needs some attention haha!

Today I'm going into London for a few meetings to map out the next tour of LouiseLIVE which is really exciting as well as filming a special beauty video for you. Darcy is having some lovely Daddy time at Matt's place (a few people asked about this and it's something I don't mind discussing- We are on great terms so we quite happily share time with Darcy. I know a lot of women who worry about their children not being cared for to a high standard with the Father but honestly, I couldn't think of a better Dad than Matt. It's like it was his calling in life to be a brilliant Father. So, for half of the week Darcy stays with me at home and for the other half she lives with Matt in his lovely apartment. She feels extra lucky to have two bedrooms full of toys now!).

So April, I hope you are good to us all. We'd like sunshine and flowers and every sweet bird tweeting please.

What do you like best about April? Are you excited for the new month?

Toodlepip!

Motivational Monday || #HappyTummy with Activia Fibre

 Aloha Sprinklerinos,

Golly, I've know I've said it already but I can’t quite believe that 2015 has crept up on us so quickly and here we all are - getting ready to implement this year’s resolutions in hope to beat the January blues. I hope Christmas was wonderful to you – I’d love to hear all about your festive time in the comments :-)

Today’s usual Motivational Monday is coming at you with not one, but TWO posts. And this one is going to have a slightly different twist – whilst most of us will feel full on happiness during Christmas, it’s a slippery slope to maintaining a positive mind and body in the next few winter months for us ladies.

There are heaps of contributing factors – be it the colder weather, going back to work etc. but for me, a big part of that is down to the amount of rubbishy food we consume over the Christmas period. It’s just part of the package isn’t it? And I do think it’s something we should be able to enjoy, but that doesn’t mean that when January rolls around we’re not feeling lethargic and demotivated. Not to mention that horrible rubbishy tummy feeling. Damn you sweeties and stuffing.

It’s a tricky business. When you’re not feeling good on the inside, you simply don’t feel like making the most of all the wonderful little moments in everyday life. It’s hard to get the juices flowing, you know?

So when Activia got in touch to tell me about their new Happy Tummies Movement, I let out a squeal of joy because well, the name is brilliant.

Titles aside, let me give you the lowdown…Activia recognise all of the above, that January makes us all quiver with fear and generally feel a bit rubbish. So instead of us wishing it away they want to help us all feel a little bit brighter – by helping you make the most out of those little moments with their new Activia Fibre that can help your digestive well being* - A plain yogurt and a cereal topping with wheat bran fibre.

2014 was one of the busiest, craziest, most wonderful years of my life – and it took up heaps of energy. I couldn’t simply run on empty, I had to have things in place to keep me moving, keep me motivated. And trying my upmost to be healthy and happy with it (shout out to #GlitterGetsFitter), was one of those things – and of course what’s mine glitter bugs, is yours – so here are some handy tips on how you can achieve a #HappyTummy, too:

1. Less isn’t more. Eating a yoghurt or apple for breakfast, lunch and dinner doesn’t qualify as a balanced diet or a full meal. Introduce lots of healthy foods in to your daily routine – it’s important to keep that tummy full. Being healthy isn’t eating less, it’s changing the way you see food.

2. Drink your daily allowance of water. It’s bloomin’ difficult, but I find carrying round a litre bottle of water means I’ll always finish it, and then anything else is just a bonus!

3. SLEEP. It’s so important to allow yourself downtime.

4. Don’t set yourself unachievable targets. For example, ‘I want to lose 10 pounds’ is really quite specific. Instead maybe go for something like ‘this week I’ll try and walk to work 3 times and bring a healthy lunch each day’. Way less scary.

Following those 4 simple steps not only left me feeling great, but it's also aided towards one of the best years of my life. It just goes to show how much more you can achieve when you have a #HappyTummy – no pun intended :-)

Self-motivation can be hard though, so the good eggs at Activia have set up some super lovely treats for us to keep keeping on – Daily giveaways in-store and on their Facebook page will be running to win a ‘Happy Tummy hamper’ which will have lots of products that contribute to our general wellbeing. Once a week they’ll also be offering a luxury retreat to encourage you to get up and at ‘em in January! Which sounds like absolute bliss, if you ask me.

So Sprinklerinos, join the #HappyTummy movement this January! Share your stories via Twitter and Facebook using the hashtag and show how having a #HappyTummy can help you get so much more out of your day.

Family Day Date

Aloha Sprinklerinos,

Sometimes the very best dates are the ones you have no idea are going to happen. Obviously, as a girly girl I love the primp and process of preparing for a romantic date with a man type, but nowadays, I find myself on more and more fun family dates, and that's cool with me.

The other day, after running round completing the dullest errands of all time (fancy shlepping round homebase for a new shower anyone??), Matt and I decided to treat ourselves to a really nice late lunch/early dinner.

Fortunately, I had my camera on me (I'm making such an effort to take it more places with us) and took a few snaps. They're not professional and they're not all totally focused but I like them. They're full of life and memories and happy. I like happy.

Darcy refused to sit in her high chair the entire time so she shared mine and Matthew's lap. It's nice to be so wanted.

Why so disgustingly handsome?!?!

I love the way Darcy looks at her Daddy. Total adoration.

Since enjoying all the foods in America, the land of enormous portions, I tried to be a bit good.

Thirsty Barbie baby. Don't worry, it was a virgin cocktail. Mummy's always have a few toys in their handbags for times like this. I bought these Barbie babies (I think? Or maybe Barbie sister's??) at Walmart in Florida. Oh man I like Walmart. My little pony's were under $3!!

Oooohh I do love a good lifestyle post. I'm so pleased that this is a beauty AND lifestyle blog so that I have the freedom to document moments of my life like this and share them with you. It brings me so much happiness.

I think I would like to make more of a concerted effort to a) go to nice places with my family and b) take my big camera and snap away.

Do you do spontaneous little things like this? Would you ever consider photographing them even if they weren't that 'special'?

Motivational Monday #7

Aloha Sprinklerinos,

Did you have a good weekend? I hope so.

Motivational Monday | Sprinkle of Glitter

I chose these words (from here) today because they really struck a cord with me.

Obviously, if we all had our way we would be squillionaires driving round in pink Ferrari's and flying off in our own jet to our palace made of shells and diamonds. This is a given. As it happens, the chances of these things happening (a palace made of shells??) are pretty slim.

Not having a shell castle though, is no reason to be a misery and I think that if you take as much delight in the little things as you do the huge great ones, you will feel all the better for it.

A great example of this is instagram. Instagram is a free app which encourages you to take little phone snapshots of anything you like and share them with the instacommunity. I find that I take pictures of things I would never normally deem worthy enough the attention of my canon but yet really love them. Things like a snail slithering up a wall or the mess Darcy makes with her toys or the shoes I wore that day all become merry little focuses of my attention and I find myself noticing more and more all the good things around me.

When you love all the little things, they really truly add up and you will find your spirits so lifted from doing so.

What small things will you do with great love today?

Motivational Monday #3

Aloha Sprinklerinos,

What a week it was last week! I shall have to do a post on it full of pictures to share it all. Until then, let's lift our Monday morning spirits and look ahead to the next 7 days with positivity and excitement.

This is a lesson I have learnt and continue to learn the hard way. You know those mistakes that you make over and over again? Well this is mine. I find it very hard to let go of friendships and always try to save them or see the best in the other person, even if they are basically, idiots to me.

In the times when I have stopped chasing love, affection and attention, I have felt so much calmer and respected myself a whole lot more. The moment you stop chasing things from people who are never going to give it, you are much more aware of the people in your life who are standing round you with everything you want, offering to give it to you in bountiful amounts. The moment you stop wasting your time on people who don't care about you, you can give so much more to those who do. You may even find that the moment you stop throwing away your energy on people who never cared, they notice the love and fun and kindness you are giving your real friends and have a change of heart.

I am so lucky with the people and support networks I have in my life and I think it's really important that I don't ever loose sight of those in minutes when I feel unloved or lonely. It's only a state of mine, not a reality.

So, the message today is, identify your good and great relationships and nurture them. Identify your non-starter relationships, smile peacefully and stop worrying about them.

What do you think? Have you experienced anything like this before?
