Looking Ahead

Aloha Sprinklerinos,

With Spring blooming and the promise of Summer on the horizon, we're all getting pretty excited around here.

Summer
(Darcy last year in her first pair of proper shoes and thrifted dress. Love this little outfit)

Last year was my second Summer with Darcy but my first being really confident as a Mother. The first was sleepless nights and long days learning a lot. In 2012 things were a lot more fun with trips to Liverpool, days out, Darcy's first steps, cutie games and a lorra lorra personality!

This year I want things to be just as brilliant, if not more. I'm seriously excited!! Since I have a deep and weird love for list writing, I thought I would share some things I have been daydreaming about recently.

To Do This Summer

Tea Parties in the sunshine. Darcy is in love with her little tea set (she has three infact!) and likes to bring me little cups of imaginary tea and cake when I'm working. We've never taken them outside but I'm looking forward to it.

Making Daisy Chains. A little crown of flowers in those sweet curls would be just too precious.

Walking on the Beach. Matt's parents live really close to a gorgeous sandy beach and I can't wait to feel the sand between my toes, collect driftwood and search for shells.

Dress Up. I can't help but buy Darcy a million sweet dresses. We're just waiting for some warmer weather to model them all.

Projects. I have an old piece of furniture that I have been wanting to sand and paint for months now but want to do it as a family activity on my patio.

Iced Drinks at Starbucks. Yes, I know it's a huge commercial chain but I really bloomin' love it.

Park Hopping. My friend Marie told me about this. You basically jump in your car and visit as many playgrounds as possible. Big fun!

Liverpool. My old university city will always hold a special place in my heart and every time I visit I love it just a little bit more. I want it to be special to Darcy too, she's half scouse after all.

Wicksteed Park. This is an old amusement park/adventure playground/scenic area/arcade type place that my parents took me to when I was little and their parents took them too. I want to continue the chain and tell Matt and Darcy all my childhood memories.

Friends! This is a biggie. Last Summer I had some BRILLIANT days with different friends and I want more and more and more of those. I could do a whole blog post on all the highlights from last year, but this is not the time. Our life is so enriched by the friends we have in it and we want to nurture and enjoy those friendships even more.

Gardening. I've talked about this before but I want to really make our garden a space to enjoy. As well as taming the bushes and plants, I'd like to add a trampoline and a hammock. We've already added a water table which Darcy loves and I will share with you soon.

OOTDS. With Summer comes lovely floaty dresses, bright colours and fun accessories. I've had quite the wardrobe revamp so would like to document some of the outfits I wear.

MeetUps. Vidcon and Summer In The City are both happening this August and I can't wait to attend both. SITC was one of the most surreal and fun experiences of my 2012 so I have a lot of expectations for it!

Enjoy local things. I live in a really nice area (I think anyway) and I love all the little things about it. I love my neighbours, the corner shop, the local green spaces and all the trees we have around. This summer I'm going to really appreciate the place in which I live.

And that just about wraps things up.

What are you looking forward to this summer? I feel so excited for life at the moment, I wish I could bottle this feeling and share it with you.

(That last one isn't summery but I wrote it in the summer and was pleased as punch with it)

Baby Style || Pretty In Pastels

Aloha Sprinklerinos,

Since I haven't done an Baby OOTD since THIS ONE in February, I thought it was about time I did another. I tell you what though, making a toddler stand still for long enough to focus your camera is about as easy as solving a problem like Maria (hope you get that Sound of Music fans). In summary, photographing a tot is hard! I'm obviously not going to force her to do it so we're gonna work with what we've got.

Baby Fashion

This photograph was taken at Easter outside our church and is what she wore to the service. We don't always dress up too fancy but since it was a special occasion (good old Jesus rising again etc- don't go mad at me for having a religious moment please), we made an effort.

Pink Hair Clip - H&M
Cream Vest Onsie - H&M
Mint Cable Knit Cardi - Primark
Pink Bow Tutu - Gifted from Marie
Cream Tights - H&M
Baby Blue Sparkle Pumps - Next

I tend to steer Baby Glitter's wardrobe towards pastels because I think they suit her and she's such a little girlie girl that she is happy to wear them. Oooohhh ggaawwdddd I love dressing that kid!

As you can see, all of Darcy's clothes are from highstreet stores (except the gift) and I think they look amazing. If you have the money and you want to go designer then yay, but for us, we love a good bargain! We look in stores, supermarkets, charity shops, consignment fairs and boot sales for clothes and often find absolute gems.

I will do more of these Baby Style posts as and when the kidling permits me to get a good shot of her.

Where do you shop for children's clothes? Do you secretly wish you could wear that cardigan too? I know I do!

The Best Of February

Aloha Sprinklerinos,

Well, I meant to write this post for Friday, but will with all the upset of loosing my little Mindycat, I took a day away from my laptop. I'm sure you won't mind.

February was a proud blog month for me. I challenged myself to upload a post every single weekday and I succeeded. I wasn't exactly a breeze but I really enjoyed getting stuck in and am pleased with the content I produced. Look at me being all self praising! Haha.

I'm reluctant to challenge myself to do this throughout March as I know I have a LOT on in the next 4 weeks but I'm going to give it a while. In for a penny, in for a pound as they say...whatever that actually means!

So, before it's too late, let's reflect on the great month that we just had and tomorrow we'll be looking forward to the next one. Smooooth.

Urban Decay Spring Collection 2013 Naked Flushed

We kicked off February with THIS post, oohing and arring over the latest offerings from Urban Decay. The above palette is the Naked Blush Trio, the sister product the the Naked Eyeshadow. I'm crossing my fingers for more from this range.

Illamasqua Imperfection

Still in total makeup junkie mode (when am I not in this mode?!) I told you all about THIS amazing Illamasqua Event I had attended and we talked about speckled nails. Last month I also saw that L'Oreal are continuing with the speckled nail trend so I suspect this will be something we see a lot of in the months to come. Exciting to have something new.

Handmade Valentine Card by Toddler/Baby | Sprinkle of Glitter

In week two, as well as having a long overdue blog redesign from Blogger/Author/Designer WonderForest, I talked about spending quality time with Darcy and making THESE oh so cute Valentine Cards for our family.

Sprinkle of Glitter Makeup FOTD

In that same week, I uploaded THIS Happy Wife FOTD and took a new approach to photographing products - grouping! I by far and above prefer this method and think I will keep it up in the future.

Cloud Nine Giveaway | Free Irons | Free hair styler

February's giveaway was for a pair of Cloud Nine Stylers (won't link it as this giveaway is now closed). I was thrilled with your enthusiasm and may try and do a few more of these sorts of things. I'm quite fortunate in that I am offered to do giveaways by a lot of brands but I only really do them if the prizes excite me or I think they are extra special. Shall I do more? You decide.

February was the month that I launched THIS new feature- Baby Style. If Darcy will stand still for 2 minutes and I can get a decent snap, you'll see a lot more of this kind of thing! After THIS insane clothes haul, I think I've got enough clothes! Haha.

How to colour glass jars

In the final week of the month, we had THIS good old fashioned DIY post. As always, it was easy and affordable as I think that's what makes projects most appealing! All too often I have given up on things when they were too complex (I'm looking at you 'easy sew nappy bag') and felt frustrated and out of pocket (yeah, still you 'easy sew nappy bag. Grrrr). If your repins on Pinterest were anything to go by, this DIY tutorial was a hit. Woot woot.

Cat and Baby Photography

And then finally, at the very end of a brilliant month, there was the very sad news of my wonderful kitty going up to heaven. She is buried in my back garden (I paid extra for the vet to come out to our house and leave her body- well worth the expense if you are ever in this awful position as the animal is a LOT calmer) and I imagine that she is up in heaven with my Mum and Gran and her kitty Mum and any brothers and sisters she might have had. She had a good life.

-------------- --------------

So a busy month! On top of all of those highlights (and the low light), were my regular posts like Amazing Advertisers, Bedroom Beauty Challenge and four Motivational Mondays (I think my favourite posts to write).

Is there anything specific you'd like to see in March? What did you enjoy or maybe dislike (holds breath and hopes you're kind!) in February?

Baby Style || Spy Mac and Studs

Aloha Sprinklerinos,

Last week Matt and I had a mooch round Milton Keynes to fill a few hours and I picked up a couple of bits of Baby Glitter that I simply couldn't not share.

I buy her so many nice things (naughty Mummy), that I have decided to try and do a few of these Baby Style posts over the next few months. The real challenge is getting her to stand still for a moment!!

Baby Style

Rustic Flower Clips :: Accessorize Angels
Purchased years ago

Beige Mackintosh :: Zara Baby
£22.99

Indigo Jeggings :: Primark
£4

Studded Tan Plimsoll :: Zara Baby
£17.99

What I love most about this outfit is the tiny bows on the sleeves of the coat. I have a jacket very similar and think the little bows give the item a more babylike feel to it, which is nice. I bought it a wee bit big because Baby Glitter grows like a sunflower and I'd like her to enjoy it for as long as possible. The lining inside is light blue quilting.

The jeggings are also great. I have bought the same pair (but smaller) in the past and Darcy finds them comfortable and easy to play in. Now that she is so active, I really want her to not be in the least bit restricted by her clothes. Tots need to be free!

If this is a feature you'd like to see on a more regular basis, I'll be sure to take close up photographs of the garments too so you can get a real feel for them.

Where is your favourite place to buy little people clothes? Do you half wish you could fit in an 18-24 months just so you could wear that coat? I think I do!
